End of Life Announcement - iTrax02 family and iSuite02 Software development Kit
iSuite02 SDK EOL
In keeping with Fastrax commitment to continually evolve our products we have announced end of life (EOL) of the iTrax02 family of products. This is due to uNav Microelectronics (www.unav-micro.com) decision that the manufacturing of uN8031 Base Band IC will be discontinued. As a consequence, support for iSuite02 Software Development Kit for iTrax02 family of OEM GPS receivers will also be discontinued by the end of 2006. The support strategy is described below and the replacement product information is provided.
iSuite02 SDK availability
As of January 1, 2006 Fastrax discontinues the sale of the following
Fastrax products in all regions:
- iSuite02 SDK
- iSuite02 HDK
New releases or documentation will no longer be available after this date. Support for existing iSuite02 SDK customers will continue until end of year 2006.
Replacement Products
For existing iTrax02 receiver user, a pin compatible iTrax03-02 receiver is offered. This receiver provides drop-in replacement for iTrax02 based products using industry standard NMEA protocol provided by standard receiver firmware. Please refer to iTrax03-02 NMEA protocol for reference. iTrax03-02 advantages over iTrax02 can be found from this link: iTrax03-02 advantages over iTrax02.
However, iTrax03-02 is not internally software compatible with iTrax02 receiver, but uses new generation iSuite 3 technology. For this reason, iSuite02 SDK cannot be used with iTrax03-02 receiver, but iSuite 3 SDK must be used instead and applications written for iSuite02 need to be migrated to new platform.
iSuite 3 SDK is a completely new product for software developers that replaces iSuite02 SDK when using iTrax03-02 or other iTrax03 generation modules.
iSuite 3 SDK advantages
iSuite 3 SDK is a completely new generation SDK that we have designed to meet wide variety of requirements after listening the feedback from our iSuite02 SDK customers. All iSuite02 capabilities can still be found, but many features have been refined and designed more robust and easy to use. For this reason some backwards compatibility was sacrificed. However, it is a relatively easy task to port you application to iSuite 3. To iSuite 3 SDK customer we offer full migration support and 3 days of extensive hands-on training at Fastrax to facilitate the migration.

SDK Upgrade policy
Existing iSuite02 SDK user's can upgrade to new generation iSuite 3 SDK with special pricing. We offer 30% price discount for our existing iSuite02 customers when upgrading to iSuite 3 SDK. In addition, iTrax Evaluation kit with iTrax03 application board will be bundled to the package.
